Research Center for Sustainable Science & Engineering is established at Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials (IMRAM), Tohoku University, since 2010. The center is aiming for global environmental protection and sustainable human development through coupling research on increasing energy efficiency and decreasing carbon consumption in base or rare metal metallurgy, development of material recycling and disposal processing, development of new device and material for creating and using renewable energy.

The reseach center has annually organized the symposium since its foundation. The 3rd Symposium of the Research Center for Sustainable Science & Engineering will be held on 17 December, 2012 in Sendai, Japan. In the 3rd symposium, which is the first international symposium, we will discuss on science and engineering toward the establishment of sustainable society from diversified viewpoints.
