Opening Ceremony and Reception
1. Opening Ceremony
Opening ceremony will be held at 16:00 p.m. on May 13, 2012, Sunday, Sendai International Center, Main Hall, located on 2nd floor.
This Ceremony will be honored with the presence of Their Majesties the
Emperor and Empress of Japan.
All the attendance of Opening Ceremony have already invited. Those who
don't have INVITATION LETTER issued by the Organizing Committee cannot
attend on this Ceremony. Also, On-site registered people cannot attend.
2. Opening Reception
Opening reception will be held at 17:00 p.m. on May 13, 2012, Sunday, Sendai International Center, Sakura Convention Hall, located on 2nd floor. Only Invited Participants can attend it. Invitation Letters have already sent to them.
We deeply appreciate your Early Registration to our congress, IACIS2012,
held on May 13, Sunday to 18, Friday, 2012 at Sendai International Center,
Aoba-ku, Sendai, Japan. More than 800 participants will come from over 40 countries.
We invite all the participants, registered in advance by March 15 as Early Registration, to the Opening Ceremony and Reception. Opening Ceremony will be held on May 13, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. and then
Reception at 5:00 p.m. at Sendai International Center.
The gate open of the Center will be 1:00 p.m. and the close 3:00 p.m. so that nobody will participate them after arriving late for the
gate closing time. Closing time is changed.
Congestion is expected at the Security Check. Please kindly arrive at the
You can use Sendai City Bus or taxi from JR Sendai Station to the Center.
The Bus is available at No. 9 bus stop of Sendai-Station West Bus Terminal;
bus fare is 180 yen for 10 min ride. You cannot use parking lot of the
Center. On May 13, Sunday, 2012, we have the 22nd Sendai International
Half Marathon. Since so many runners will run in downtown of Sendai city,
traffic delay is expected so that you may arrive at the Center earlier.
At the gate, you must show PRINTED matter of the Invitation letter to Ceremony and Reception, whcih has already sent, as well as ID, Identification card, such as Passport issued by your country, Driver Licenses for Japanese,
If you miss both of them, you cannot attend the Opening Ceremony and Reception.
In addition, you read the following notabilia so that we wish you to help
us to hold the Opening Ceremony and Reception without any trouble.
- 1. You must keep your ID, such as Passport. We should confirm it at the
entrance of Sendai International Center. We may confirm it again in necessity,
even if you attend the Ceremony.
- 2. Carry-on baggage to the room is limited to writing utensils, valuables,
and lady’s handbag. The others should be left on the cloak.
- 3. You must go through the security check to inspect your baggage and body at the entrance of the room, since VIP will attend at the Ceremony and Reception.

Banquet (Extra-charge required)
Conference banquet will be held at 18:15 p.m. on May 17, 2012, Thursday, Sendai International Center, Sakura Convention Hall, located on 2nd floor.
Extra-charge, 7,000 yen, is required, but only a few Banquet ticket remains.
Social Tour Program
We are planning to hold Social Tour around Sendai. You choose it among
4 tour courses.
- Course-A HIRAIZUMI
- “HIRAIZUMI” is located in Iwate Prefecture.
It has been registered as world’s heritage since 26th June 2011. This is first registration of a cultural heritage in the Tohoku Region. We will guide you to the “Chusonji Konjikido”and “Motsuji Temple”. Konjikido is completely covered with gold and it was built in the year 1124. Photographing is prohibited here.
- Course-B MOUNT ZAO
- Zao mountain is located between Miyagi and Yamagata Prefecture.
Okama is the crater lake of Zao mountain top. It’s called “Five Color Lake”, the changing colors of the sun light. From early November to the end of April, Zao echo line route to the mountain top is closed due to heavy snow fall. Road will be opened only from May onwards. One can enjoy the magnificent scenery, fresh greenery of the mountain and also on both sides of the road high snow walls.
- Course-C MATSUSHIMA
- Matsushima has been ranked as one of the three most scenic views in Japan.
We will guide you to the best scenic spot called “Saigyo Park”. From here one can see the Matsushima’s 260 Islands. After that we will guide you to the “Kanrantei” to enjoy Japanese traditional Culture of Tea Ceremony. “Zuiganji Temple” is designated one of Japanese Treasures. Matsushima was hit by the earthquake and tsunami on March 11. Damages was not so devastating as compared with other areas ,mainly because it was protected by these 260 islands.
Course-D SHIROISHI (20 Ladies Only) Canceled
One can enjoy the experience of wearing “KIMONO” called “UCHIKAKE” at the castle town Shiroishi.
Professional dressing staff can help foreign ladies who have interest in trying kimonos “UCHIKAKE” is to be rent at a few hundred US dollars at wedding reception. This is the most valuable Traditional “KIMONO”in Japan. Do not forget to bring your camera with you!
